Christmas in Australia is a hot, very hot. This is why we also love to celebrate Christmas in July which falls in our winter. So we can experience a winter wonderland like you and our other friends in Europe and the USA do in December.

A great tradition here in Australia is for kangaroos to pull Santa on his sleigh when he gets to Australia. This is so the reindeer can have a break in the searing heat which the kangaroos thrive on. Here is one of our favorite Christmas songs about Santa and the Boomers (kangaroos). They are called boomers because of the booming sound they make when they jump. Here is a fun and favorite Christmas song that we love to sing about Santa and his 6 white boomers (kangaroos) on Youtube by a famous Australian singer Rolf Harris

I love to share fun North Pole stories with children and perform some magic tricks that go with the stories. I love children to be inspired to use their imagination, laugh and have fun.

I am what we call a 'Secret Santa' and am Australia's first! As I do not have a Santa Claus, I am my own Santa Claus. I love to disguise myself as Santa and do secret deeds of goodwill around my neighbourhood. It's lots of fun and spreads the Christmas spirit all year of generosity, love and oneness.

Last year I was the first Australian to sign the Santa Claus Oath and I am also on the International Santa Claus Oath Committee and you can check it out here and sign it too if you are a Santa Claus, Mrs Claus or elf

I love to write about Christmas, history, symbols, traditions around the world. Being far away from many traditional lands, we down here in Australia, the newest country in the world, do not have a great deal of Christmas traditions that are uniquely our own. This is why I have written a book about traditions around the world, it was mainly to curb my own curiosity and love of other cultures and traditions. We try to incorporate something new each year into our celebrations. I am also currently writing a new book about Mrs Claus recipes for love, happiness and joy and will release it this coming Christmas season.

Because of the heat at Christmas time in Australia, we like to spend our main lunch event on Christmas day outdoors and it's usually a BBQ on often at the beach. Lots of salads and cold foods and we follow the main meal with our traditional Christmas sweet, a pavlova. It's a merangue with whipped cream that looks like snowy mountains. What the North Pole might look like HoHOHo! There is a lot of controversy about it because a New Zealand chef working in Australia come up with the recipe. So us Aussie's say it's ours and the New Zealanders say it theirs! It doesn't really matter. It just makes for a little extra fun and laughter over some egg nogg during festivities.

During Christmas in July in Australia the snow fields come alive with the sounds and sites of Santa and Christmas themes.

The Australian 'Christmas in July' celebration is a somewhat unusual and some suggest even slightly eccentric festival that now attracts international travellers to our land down-under! Christmas in July' or Yulefest as it is also known is believed to have been born by accident one snowy wintery night in July of 1980 at an award-winning boutique hotel 'Mountain Heritage' in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. A group of Irish guests noticed the irony of winter weather in July and wanting to recreate the feelings associated with winter back home, asked the hotel proprietor if he could organise a few Christmas-style food and festivities for them that night. Thus was born Christmas in July sporting Christmas decorations, snowmen, mulled wine, carols, roast dinners, mince pies, plum pudding, egg nog, bonbons, Christmas crackers, log fires and the occasional snow fall amongst a magical winter Yuletide wonderland of festivities.

The idea spread fast and now in July, the peak season for the Australian snow fields, Christmas decorations and special events are meticulously planned to attract visitors for snow themed Yulefest celebrations. Many families now enjoy winter holidays at the snow fields where they build snowmen as they watch Santa Claus in the distance zip zagging through the snow slops HoHOho-ing!
